I have found that in life, it is sometimes easier to think about all the thinks that are not going your way instead of being thankful for all the things that are.  I find it sad that often we are able to highlight problems so quickly but it takes effort to think about the things that bring us so much joy.  It happens to the best of us and it takes a conscious effort to decide for yourself what you want to focus on.  This week is a great reminder of that and I am choosing to embrace it wholeheartedly.

I am taking a break from posting this week to focus on being thankful with my family and friends.  I hope that you do the same.

Have a very blessed Thanksgiving and I will see you when I get back next week.

Tuscan 1

In typical fashion, it is the poncho that I was the most unsure about styling that I ended up loving the most.  Doesn’t it always work out that way?

When I saw the Tuscan poncho, I really really liked it but it felt the most “unlike” me.  The first two I could easily see myself wearing but this one had me a bit hesitant.  I really wasn’t sure I would be able to pull it off.  Then I started pulling out items to style with it and I found that in fact, it fit into my wardrobe more than I realized.  Imagine that.

This look couldn’t be more perfect for a cold Winter day.  The beautiful prints of the poncho add texture while the fur scarf adds the additional warmth.  The merging Fall colors of the hat and poncho fit right in with this season and the entire look just screams cozy and comfortable yet still filled with style.  I just loved loved this entire look and learned a valuable lesson yet again… TAKE THE RISK.  We all need to sometime or guess what, you are going to be wearing the same thing every single day and where is the fun in that?

Now that you have seen all three looks (if you missed, here is Monday’s, here is Wednesday’s), which one is your favorite?

Thank you so much Renee for giving me the opportunity to have so much fun with your gorgeous pieces!

Happy Weekend.

When all else fails, I will always go with black on black on black.  It is my go-to and I have always loved it.

When I made a visit to the studio, the Stevie poncho was the first piece I noticed.  The lace and fringe hem was too much for me and without even asking Renee, I grabbed it off the rack and tried it on.  At the time I wasn’t allowed to purchase it or even take a photo of it because the collection had not launched yet but I knew which one was my favorite.  Fast forward to this shoot and it was the first one I picked to style.  I could have paired it with some blue jeans and white tank to make an extremely easy layering piece (which would look fab by the way, you should try it) but I wanted to add a little more edge.

While I will admit that I am not a crazy edgy person, this look provides just enough rock and roll without me feeling as if I am over doing it.  The poncho, hat and necklace together add just enough detail to make one overlook the fact that I am really just wearing a tee and jeans.  And isn’t that the goal?  To make others think we spent much more time on our look than we did?  It doesn’t get any easy than keeping with one okay, perhaps two, the tee is grey colors.  Let’s be honest, we all have a little rock and roll in all of us.

This look is a completely contrast to Monday’s look, showing how easy it is for you to transition your looks without looking like you are crazy-town.  Two ponchos down, one to go!

If there has every been a look that I have been intimidated by, it is the bohemian look.  I absolutely love it on everyone else but have always been too unsure of being able to pull it off myself.  I have always felt that I would just look silly and therefore, have always stayed clear.  Then I met Renee of 16th Colony and after a day spent in her studio trying on pieces, I realized that perhaps I could pull it off, appropriately, in a way that works for me.  See, that was the thing that I was forgetting.  Rather than stay completely away from a look that I loved from a distance, I needed to incorporate it into a way that worked for me and my personal style.  Slowly but surely, I began to embrace it and I have since never looked back.

When Renee approached me about doing a photo shoot with 16th Colony to style some of her pieces, I thought this would be the perfect time to showcase how the bohemian look can be incorporated in a number of different ways, depending on your own personal style.  We shot three looks touching on being very feminine, a little rock and roll and a classic winter look.  I absolutely loved all three and believe that any of them can be worn by everyone, regardless of age.  I will be sharing each look over the course of this week and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did taking the photos!

In this first look, I am wearing the Skylark poncho.  I loved this double layered poncho as soon as I saw it and once I had it on and experienced how easy it was to move around in, I loved it even more.  Thrown over a pair of jeans or cut offs, this poncho adds a feminine touch to your everyday look without having to try.  This is the perfect daytime look for any woman on the go who wants to look cute and feminine but needs to be practical as well.

It’s FRIDAY!!!

And Friday means WEEKEND!

And during this time of year, Weekend means PARTIES!

And parties mean taking everything up a notch doesn’t it?  A little more makeup, a little fancier dress and of course, a little more red lips.

Yes, red lips are always a favorite for me year round but during this time of year, I tend to take it up a notch and wear red lips a lot more.  Tis the season right?

The one problem with this is that this time of year also lends itself to dry lips.  And dry lips plus lipstick is a “no go”.  The lipstick just doesn’t look the same, it makes your lips even more dry and by the end of the night, you may have a little mess on your hands.  Luckily, Giorgio Armani created a line of lipsticks to help with this and I am hooked.

Giorgio Armani’s Rouge Ecstasy was created to offer the softness and comfort of a lip balm leaving the lips repaired and moisturized, while still allowing you to pull of your red lips.  I have been wearing shade 400 and I love it.  Even though our weather has become a bit cold and dry, never once I have felt that my lips are getting chapped, even though I am wearing lipstick instead of lip balm.  Winter lifesaver here.

You can view all the colors offered by Giorgio Armani by clicking here but here is a hint: shade 400 is their universal red.  It is known for looking good on everyone.  I highly suggest giving it a try.

When are days start to turn gloomy and it actually begins to feel like Fall around here, there are three things that I instantly turn to; cozy clothes, fireplaces and chili.  There is nothing better than a dreary day dressed in sweats and sweaters, curled up on the couch with the fireplace on and chili in a bowl watching a good movie.  It all provides the comforting feeling that at that moment, there is no place to go, no need to stress, nothing to do, but hang out with the family.  This is my favorite part of the Fall and the holidays.

Chili has always topped the list as my favorite comfort food.  It is pure comfort in a bowl and I love that there are a thousand ways to make it.  I see no reason why I shouldn’t try them all either.  I am rarely disappointed and usually walk away with another recipe to add to the recipe book.  A few weeks ago, it was actually a cool day in Orange County (shocking, I know) and our favorite SF Giants were playing in the final game of the World Series so making chili only made sense.  I thought it would be fun to try a new recipe so I did what I normally do and began scouring the internet for something that sounded good.  I came across this Chili recipe by Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere and between the recipe looking delicious and the fact that it used turkey instead of beef, I figured I would try it out.

Once again I came across a fantastic recipe for chili that I now have in the books.  It also made for the best leftovers, which is one of the best parts of making chili…food for days.

What is your favorite comfort food?  Is there anything that you continue to make, time and time again, with different recipes and yet it always provides the same warmth and cozy feeling?  I would love to hear!

Every Fall my love affair with cozy knits and plaid reignites and I cannot seem to get enough of it.  I love how this look pairs a simple knit sweater and tartan scarf with leather leggings, providing more edge than it normally assumed with knits and plaids.

So this is a big step.

Every now and then we need to take the ideas and dreams we have in our head and stop thinking about them but actually do them.  So often we think about all the reasons why we shouldn’t do it but rarely highlight all the reasons why we should.  That is what your husband, family and friends are for.  They are the ones that see your potential and give you the confidence to stop talking and start doing.

A couple years ago I started talking about transitioning Juggling in Heels from just a blog to a personal styling service, offering men, women and young adults the opportunity to make the most out of their wardrobe while also learning how to build their closet through investing in the appropriate pieces but also balancing this with cost effective pieces that make a big impact.  As someone who has worked a number of years in retail but also spent the majority of my career working in a corporate environment, I understand the needs of women and men who work in a range of industries, from extremely casual to business formal.  From college graduation to the board room to the park to next week’s fundraiser, I have always loved working with people informally to get them ready for all that is going on in life.  I just never thought about making it official.  It seems everyone else did.  And they kept telling me to do it.

And now I am finally listening.

This holiday season I am launching “Personal Styling by Juggling in Heels” with a focus on personal holiday shopping.  I am starting with three packages that will hopefully make your holiday shopping easier, offering a little relief from gathering gifts for your significant other, giving them something they love under the tree without you having to stress about what to get them.  Here they are:

Stocking Stuffer

Take the stress out of holiday shopping for your significant other and let me make it easy for you.  I will spend some time discussing with you what your significant other has asked for, things he/she loves, their sizes, their personal style, their favorite places to shop and designers, and your budget.  I will then take care of the shopping for you, gift wrap and have ready for pick up so that all your need to do is place the gifts under the tree.  It’s that easy.  Even if you are not in the Orange County area, I can still work with you and ensure all your gifts are delivered wrapped right to your home. (this package will vary in price depending on the number of gifts and stocking stuffers you would like to have me purchase)

Under the Tree

Why have me simply take care of the shopping when you can also make a little gift out of it?  This package offers all the holiday shopping listed above but also includes a two-hour closet consultation with me, helping to clean out, get rid of what needs to go, create a list of key pieces that are missing and re-styling what he/she already has to make the most out of what they already own.  Sometimes all your closet needs is a little facelift and what better time than at the start of a New Year?

Let it Snow

This holiday season, provide your significant other with the ultimate personal shopping experience.  This package includes all that is listed in the above packages, along with two one-hour personal shopping consultations with me.  Once the closet consultation is over, it is time to fill those holes we found in the process.  I will begin shopping for those missing pieces and will bring them directly to your significant other (no need for them to go anywhere!) to try on and select what works.  I will also work these pieces into their current wardrobe, providing different styling options to ensure they are getting the most out of their purchases.

So there you have it!

These packages were geared towards men and women to help with their holiday shopping so please feel free to share with friends, friend’s husbands, neighbors, etc.  There will only be a limited number of each package available to ensure all clients receive the attention they deserve.  If you or someone you know is interested in booking, please email me at for pricing information and additional details.

Beginning in 2015 I will begin expanding my packages, providing different options for upcoming college graduates, celebration gifts (birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine’s Day will be taken care of!), Fundraising and Gala styling, and simple personal shopping consultations (both in person and via skype for those not in the Orange County area).

Thank you to all you fabulous readers who have really gotten me to this point.  There are no words to express how much your support has and continues to mean to me.

When it come to children’s shoes, Stride Rite has consistently held ranks as not only one of the oldest children’s shoe company, but also a company that creates the highest quality of shoe for children, beginning with their first steps.  There is a high probability that you learned to walk in Stride Rite shoes, and perhaps your children did too.

Since hitting the scene in 2002, Splendid has been known for created “the ultimate t-shirt”.  Since then, they have created an entire lifestyle brand for the entire family.  It has always been a favorite of mine and Baby Girl’s.  The designs, prints and comfortable fabrics make for the perfect play clothes.

So image my excitement when I heard that these two lines were coming together to create the “Splendid for Stride Rite” collection.  From little booties for your newborn to adorable flats and sneakers for your child on the go, this collection brings together the quality that Stride Rite is known for and the designs and prints that Splendid does so well.  Baby Girl was giddy when her Portia Flat arrived.  Chic and comfortable has made for the perfect flat for my little fashionista.

You can shop some of my favorites from the collection below and good news!  Some of them are on sale.  You can preview the entire collection at Stride Rite by clicking here.

One of my favorite colors of the Fall is red.

So often the palette in Fall becomes dark with a lot of neutrals and red is a nice change of pace.  It is definitely a statement color but that is what I love about it.  For all of time it has stood for confidence, sexiness, attitude, and femininity.  Every time I wear a red lip or a red dress, I find myself walking a little taller.  I am not sure why but it simply creates a woman from the girl.   Plus, it is festive this time of year!  Whether you are dressing for a casual Saturday at the sports field or dressing up for a holiday party, you cannot go wrong with incorporating it into your look.  It will always get noticed.
