Girls

Last week I hosted a two day Pop Up Shop event with the online boutique, ShopBURU.com.  The founder, Morgan, and her husband made the trek from Salt Lake City to Orange County to host twos days of designer shopping and lucky me got to have it in my front yard.  We spent the two days dressings women, sipping champagne, talking fashion and making new friends.  It was a blast.  I have been a long time fan of ShopBURU.com, an online boutique aimed at providing a curated selection of Ready to Wear designers for the pregnant and nursing moms and beyond, but after meeting Morgan, I love the shop even more.  She is helping to change the way that women dress while pregnant, nursing and on the go.  I love the concept that just because we are moms doesn’t mean we have to sacrifice style.  That is what I have been saying all along here on JIH and Morgan has created the dream shop for us.

I could go on and on when discussing the merchandise filled with pieces by Derek Lam, Rebecca Minkoff, Milly, Mara Hoffmann, just to name a few but you really must visit the site to see just how fabulous the selection is.  I have pulled together the items that I picked up along with some other items that are now on my Wish List.  The only problem with this event is that it had to end.  I mean, it would be a DREAM to have a Sprinter van filled with beautiful clothes parked in front of my home at all times.  Wouldn’t you agree?

Here is what I picked up

And here are some of the fabulous pieces shoppers picked up that are now on my Wish List

Thank you Morgan for coming out to Orange County and sharing your beautiful online boutique with us!

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that back in April I was at Stagecoach wearing some of the most beautiful kimonos.  They were created by my friend Jessica of Mommy Chic and are a part of her first Mommy Chic by Jessica collection that just launched yesterday!  Jessica has always had incredible taste and it shows in the creation of her first pieces for summer.  Classic silhouettes, beautiful fabrics and incredible attention to detail are brought to life in casual tops, dresses, kimonos and capes.  I wore the long Bridget Kimono in floral and the short Bridget Kimono in lace while at Stagecoach and the compliments I received on the pieces were abundant.  Since then, I have thrown them over swimsuits, worn them to baseball games and have pulled the long one out for cool summer evenings.  They have become staples in my closet and I cannot wait to order a few more.

With the launch of the collection, Jessica is also offering you 20% off with the discount code mcbjlaunch.  It is the perfect time to pick up one of her cool and casual pieces for your upcoming summer vacation.  Congratulations Jessica on an incredible launch!

When a dress is filled with navy and white stripes and is only $39, it calls out Summer in the best way.  Am I right?  I paired this Joe Fresh linen dress with converse because it was a little more sporty and unexpected but it would look great with a simple pair of sandals too.

These two tanks were so popular on Instagram that I had to share them over here on the blog for those of you who may have missed them. They are both under $40 and add so much more detail than the traditional tank. I am all for versatile pieces for summer and I think this crochet one would be great over a bathing suit or dressed up with jeans and heels for a night out. I wore this embroidered tank with cut offs and espadrilles but I think it would also look great with white jeans and sandals.

TGIF Everyone!

Target continues to get it right when it comes to little girls.  I love the selection of dresses they currently have for our littles, along with the overalls, denim, tees… it really goes on and on.  Baby Girl has been growing like crazy (nothing like a 5 year old that is now as tall as some 7 year olds!) and I feel so much better buying her things from Target at reasonable prices when I know she is not going to wear them long.  Here are some of the items I picked up for her, along with some other favorites that are now on the list.

It’s Friday.  Schools out.  I have dear friend coming into town this evening.  Life is awesome.

My wish came true and the end of school has arrived and  I am so excited to spend more time with the kids, doing the things that we love to do in Orange County over the summer.  We had a bit of a crazy last two weeks and the highlight for the family was appearing on Good Morning America Monday morning.  We spent the day filming last Friday and the kids were excited to see themselves on television Monday.  It was a fun experience for us to do together and I loved all the surprise texts we received from friends across the country who were shocked to turn on their television and see us.  Here is the clip if you missed it.

In honor of our summer beginning, I have put together a little Soludos shop.  They are the most perfect summer shoe, transitioning easily from the beach, to home, to lunch, to vacation and on and on and on.  You also cannot beat the price.

For some time now, I have had my eye on TopShop’s A-line skirt collection. They have brought back a vintage feel with some of the best prints I have seen. This skirt is one of my favorite new additions to the closet and there is a high probability there will be more in my future.

JUGGLING IN HEELS x 16THCOLONY-50 REVISED

For my last look with 16th colony, I had to go back to Renee’s ponchos.  It is where the designing began and is what 16th Colony is known for.  How could I leave them out?!  I was instantly drawn to the Allegory Poncho because of how light and airy it is.  Traditionally you think of a poncho being a little heavier and used for warmth but this one made me think of beach days and summer barbecues.  It only made sense to pair it with a pair of cut offs and boots.  I think it would also make the perfect coverup over your swimsuit all summer long.  The soft creme color and simple lace detail down the back makes it a perfect staple for those warm Orange County days that melt into cozy Summer nights.  Ahhh Summer.  Can you tell I am ready?

Don’t forget: 16th Colony is offering 20% off the entire collection to all of you with code JIH.  Don’t leave the Bohemian Babe in your left without a beautiful dress, skirt or poncho for summer!  You can shop it all by clicking here.

JUGGLING IN HEELS x 16THCOLONY-37

Black and I go way back.  It has and will continue to be the strongest presence in my closet.  There is something about the simple sophistication of the color that makes me feel as if I do not have to do much to look pulled together.  Add a little makeup and some red lips and you are good to go.

This might be the reason that the majority of the dresses in my closet are black.  Of course I will step outside every now and then (such as Monday’s look), but I seem to always find my way back.  It was no surprise that the Paragone dress caught my eye when previewing the 16th Colony collection.  Even though it is a long dress, it cut to accent a women’s figure, offering a very low neckline and a very high slit on both sides.  From a distance it looks a little conservative but up close you begin to see just how provocative it really is…just like most women.  We all have a little more sexy than we show.

Don’t forget!  16th Colony is offering 20% off the entire collection for all readers with code JIH.  You can shop this dress and the rest of the collection here.
