If there is one thing that gets thrown out the window over the Summer, it is my consistent workout schedule. There is just no way. I do not have childcare which means all the speciality classes are out the window. The two older ones feel too old for the gym childcare and just won’t go anymore. My only hope is that I get a VERY quick 20 minute run while my Oldest watches the other two. And this does not work out every day simply based on our Summer activities. By the end of Summer I am craving the ability to workout without all the stress.
But then there is the motivation factor. Because of the sporadic schedules of workouts in the Summer, I do find it a tad bit hard to motivate back to my daily workout routine. I know how much I love it and how much I need it but actually getting there can sometimes be another story. Any other Moms ever in this predicament?
For that reason, Alp-N-Rock, a global, premium Sports-Fashion brand, and I teamed up to share 5 ways to help you get back into the groove and get your body moving again!
1. Find Yourself a Workout Partner
This makes all the difference. It is extremely hard to flake when someone else is depending on you to be there. Find that person that loves to workout out at the same level and amount as you and start holding each other accountable. Chat at the start of the week and agree on what you will do each day and when you will meet. Committing to each other will keep you to your word. Plus, it makes pushing yourself a lot more fun when there is someone with you to feel the pain.
2. Schedule Your Workout
We schedule everything on the calendar don’t we? Meetings, practices, birthday parties. So why don’t we schedule workouts as well? At the start of the week, I will write in my daily workout and what it will be. If there are classes I am going to take, I will go online and schedule then. That way, the entire week is scheduled and all my classes are booked. With the time committed and it worked into my schedule, it makes it easier for me to actually show up.
3. Change It Up
I find that the biggest reason I stop doing a workout is that I actually have done too much of it and I am bored. Keep it interesting! Try to do something different every day and you will find yourself not getting bored with working out but actually looking forward to the next day. My favorite things to do are run, spin and pilates so I tend to rotate each day between these, never doing the same thing two days in a row. Not only does it keep it interesting but it also works different muscles each day, which gives my body better shape and definition.
4. Get Outside
Sometimes you just need to get out of the class or gym and have some fun. There are so many great outdoor activities and nothing feels better than fresh air. Trail running/hiking, paddle boarding, boogie boarding, bike riding, swimming. The list goes on and on and makes a workout feel more like fun than anything else. Especially if you get some friends to join you. Suddenly a girls day became an awesome workout.
5. Ease In
I think that often, we get so pumped about working out again that we take it too far and find ourselves extremely sore and uncomfortable, taking away the motivation for the next day’s workout. Don’t push yourself to hard right from the start. You will get back to your level soon but let your body warm up to it. This will also help you avoid injury (we aren’t getting younger people) and allow you to hit your fitness goals faster.
So are you ready to get back into the groove? Let’s do it!
Alp-N-Rock does not just create beautiful workout clothing but they believe the greatest luxury is the ability to give back. They donate up to 10% of their profits to fund scholarships to girls in developing countries. It is always an added bonus when you find a company that creates beautiful and comfortable pieces that also cares about giving back. I loved each piece and the way they wear while working out. I also love that the pieces all coordinate and you can have mix and match depending on your style. I went with the Alpine Retreat Collection but there are so many great designs available. You can view their entire collection by clicking here.
Thank you Alp-N-Rock for sponsoring this post.
